SUBSCRIBER - Technical Writer , Markham ON

Role Summary/Purpose: 

The Technical Writer works closely with developers, product managers, and project managers to create and revise customer documentation for new and existing power distribution products.

Essential Responsibilities: 

 As an individual contributor, the Technical writer is responsible for the documentation of hardware, software, and firmware products.

 As a part of the Technical Documentation team, the Technical Writer contributes to continuing improvement of the documentation tool set and the documentation development process.

 Concurrently manage multiple projects monitoring progress and quality and ensure schedule requirements are met

Qualifications/Requirements: 

 A university degree or diploma, preferably in engineering/technology related discipline

 Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer

 Minimum 5 years of experience with substation control, distribution automation products and systems and associated configuration tools and software

 High level of competence in FraneMaker, both structured and unstructured

 Familiarity with DITA/XML and CorelDraw is an asset

 Excellent written, graphic and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

 Able to work in an independent manner utilizing sound judgment to make decisions

 Hardware and software technology and use

 Safety and electro-magnetic compatibility compliance standards

 Multi-language skills are desirable

 Knowledge of product life cycle management processes and systems

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Sharepoint Administrator to join us full time. In this role, you will provide support in the day to day operations of the SharePoint collaboration area by providing support for our infrastructure. 

As part of the role you will optimize servers and related collaboration services to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes design, installation, configuration, monitoring, and fine-tuning the operating environments in a timely and efficient manner. where required.

Responsibilities:

•Plan, create, enhance, maintain, test, deploy, administer, and document SharePoint web parts, workflows, event handlers, lists, master pages, layouts, and content types.

•Identify solutions, propose enhancements, and correct problems with SharePoint web parts, lists, and workflows contained in Visual Studio Solutions

•Coordinate with other team members to install, configure and operate the collaboration services;

•Design and implement processes and procedures to improve the operation of the environment.

•Provide secondary triage of client issues and problems that have been escalated from the Service Desk;

•Update existing SharePoint sites as required by various business units

•Provide after hours support for business critical systems.

•Champion the effective use of SharePoint across our client's organization.

•Perform SharePoint development duties as required

 Qualifications:

Technical:

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field

•Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010, SharePoint Designer,

•Good working knowledge of Windows 2003 / 2008 server, IP based networks, IIS, communication protocols;

•Ability to interpret business drivers and translate into technical solutions;

•Thorough understanding of Information Technology business practices and processes;

•Strong understanding of HTTP, HTTPS, and web-based software development

Interpersonal:

•Motivated individual that works well with minimal supervision.

•Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment

•Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

•Ability to exercise independent and autonomous judgment when dealing with competing priorities and initiatives, while keeping management well informed of issues, progress, status and resolution.

•Strong prioritization, communication, and multi-tasking skills a must as the environment is fast paced and dynamic.

We are looking for 3 Administrative Specialists to work in Fort McMurray on a turnaround project.

Typical duties include general clerical, receptionist and project based work.

Responsibilities will be unique to a specific function or department such as Materials and/or HSE, but are mainly administrative and data entry in nature.

These positions will have  limited supervision and must be able to work in a fast paced, high workload environment.

Assignments generally include such types of work as preparing complex reports and maintaining complicated records requiring careful selection, classification, or compilation of information from several sources.

The candidates require the  ability to perform numerical, statistical, and/or financial analysis.

Applies common sense understanding to execute written or oral instructions.

Required ability to communicate effective with internal and external clients. Intermediate level of understanding in MS Excel.

Minimum requirements is a high school diploma and 5 years of related experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry. Preference will be given to those with previous turnaround experience.

Job Description

• Examines documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders, and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.

• Reviews contract to determine documentation required for each phase of project.

• Monitors due dates for drawings, specifications, software, technical manuals, and other documents.

• Manage the flow of correspondence into and out of the Company; ensure outgoing documents are accurate, comply with company standards and policies, route correspondence to correct associates; and protect and secure confidential and proprietary information.

• Copy or fax materials; organize, maintain, and safeguard files and databases.

• Monitors status of project to ensure documentation is submitted according to schedule.

• Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.

• Submits project documentation to management for approval, and transmits approved documents to customer.

• Distributes documentation to the project team and customer for review and comments.

• Receives, distributes, and tracks comments received from the customer.

• Confers with engineers, managers, customers, and others to discuss project, prepare documents, or modify contract schedules.

• Confers with document originators or engineering liaison personnel to resolve discrepancies and compiles required changes to documents.

• Posts changes to computerized or manual control records, releases documents, and notifies affected departments.

• Prepares reports and memorandums.

Job Requirements/ Qualifications

 • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Access an asset.

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

• Previous experience in a fast paced environment preferred
