AT&T is stepping things up for potential BlackBerry Z10 buyers. Thanks to their new trade-in program, if you trade in your current smartphone you can receive at least $100 off a number of new devices including the BlackBerry Z10.

Most devices will net you $100 credit for a new phone, while some newer models can get you even more. So that means if you trade in your current smartphone you can grab a new Z10 for just $99 (down from the $199 retail tag) or less depending on what you're trading in.

So if you've yet to purchase a new Z10, now may be the time to get on it. We know many of you are still holding out for the Q10 to arrive, but there's no telling if the offer will still be valid come launch day.

Press Release

AT&T Offers Newest Smartphones at 50 Percent-Off with Trade-In of Current Smartphone

DALLAS, April 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning May 1, consumers who trade in their current smartphone to AT&T* will be eligible to receive at least $100 off the purchase of a new smartphone, including the new Samsung Galaxy® S 4, BlackBerry® Z10 or 32 GB HTC One®.  These devices are normally $199.99 with a qualifying two-year agreement** but, with this limited time promotion, they will be available for $99.99.

This promotion applies to any smartphone AT&T sells, and gives customers access to the latest devices at a fraction of the cost or, in the case of smartphones priced under $99.99**, for free.  To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to visit any AT&T company-owned retail store or participating authorized dealer with their previous smartphone that is no more than three years old and in good, working condition.  In stores, upon trading in their old phone, customers will receive the $100 credit on-the-spot and can use it immediately. ***

Some trade-in phones may have a value higher than $100.  In this case, customers will receive the credit at the higher value.

AT&T offers a broad variety of smartphones that run on the nation's fastest 4G LTE**** network.  AT&T 4G LTE currently covers nearly 200 million people; with plans to expand to cover 300 million people by the end of 2014.  In a report***** by independent testing organization RootMetrics, AT&T's 4G LTE network was called "blazing fast."  The report found AT&T's 4G LTE network delivered the fastest pure LTE speeds in markets where AT&T provided 4G LTE.

"This offer is a great opportunity for AT&T customers to get their hands on the newest smartphones in our portfolio at an outstanding price," said Eric Goldfeld, AVP- marketing management, AT&T.  "With graduation and Mother's Day coming up, people can take advantage of this promotion to surprise someone – or even treat themselves – to one of our hottest smartphones.  The best part is that you'll receive credit for your old phone instantly on-the-spot in AT&T stores."

In AT&T company-owned retail stores, AT&T's Trade-In Program lets customers turn in old wireless phones and receive an AT&T promotional card reflective of the device's trade-in value and condition. Customers can use the card to offset the cost of some of the latest wireless devices or the purchase of other AT&T products and services.***  All devices, including tablets data cards and feature phones – regardless of manufacturer or date purchased – will be considered for trade-in.

Beyond seeing a little more green in their pocket, AT&T customers that use our trade in program are also doing their part to support the company's sustainability initiatives. In 2012 AT&T customers recycled more that 3.1 million phones and broke the world record for cell phones recycled in a one-week period as certified by Guinness World Records.

Switching to a new smartphone has never been easier with AT&T Mobile Transfer, an app that syncs contacts, photos and videos from your old phone to your new phone.  Just visit www.att.com/mobiletransfer to make sure both phones are compatible, download the app and follow the instructions to transfer.

Likewise, setting up your new smartphone is a snap with AT&T Ready2Go, a free service that helps you to easily set up and personalize your device in minutes from the comfort of your personal computer. With Ready2Go, it's easy to set up your email accounts, import your contacts, connect to your social networks and more.

Not bad, but better to sell on ebay imo.

You may be "first" to sell it on eBay under this program.

I guess that's good for AT&T Z10 owners if they want to trade in their Z10 for a Q10.

Reply XboxTimo 15 hours ago

I wish carriers in RSA would offer us deals like this.

Too little too late lol. I'll likely pay the 249 for a Q10 to be the compliment to my Z

I'm glad I bought my z10 when I did but I hate I missed the opportunity to get an extra $100 off. Hope they add a way to hook up the initial buyers. Either way I'm happy I own my Z and looking forward to 10.1.

Way better than what the BlackBerry Trade-up Program offers to trade up to the Z10 - $105 CAD for 9900, $80 CAD for 9930; much less for earlier models.

I wish we had 2 year contracts with those subsidies in Canada...stupid 3 year deals!

I love my Z10, best phone I have ever owned. My friend at work was impressed, but he's still getting the Q10. Go BlackBerry

I just hope this limited time offer doesn't expire before I can trade in to update. My update isn't until June. One advantage to not being an early adopter is price reductions.

Glad to see ATT "supporting" Blackberry, but there are, usually, better places to sell/trade in your smartphone... For example, I sold my Galaxy S3 to Technollo and received a check for $265.00. Bought a Z10 and had some "walking around money".

Could not have been easier... as a matter of fact the folks at my ATT store introduced me to Full Circle Wireless a few years ago - where I sold a couple of phones as well.

Americans are lucky.. north of the border we had to sign a 3 year deal and pay more per month for similar

I wonder if Verizon will follow suit. I was going in today to upgrade my other half to a new Z10. I wonder if waiting a day or two would be worth it.

Same here - less than 30 days before I can upgrade...would be REALLY nice to get a Q10 for $149.00!!!

On a "totally unrelated note".... I "sideloaded" Skype from a goodereader bar file using Google Chrome attachment (as learned from Crackberry article yesterday) and it worked perfectly.

Can't wait to get the "Native" version of Skype on my Z 10 after it comes on Q 10 with BB 10.1.

Great app and great things happening with BlackBerry

Because who knows when the hell it's actually going to launch!

Reply ppeters914 14 hours ago

Darn. Was waiting for 10.1 or even 10.2 before migrating from my 9800, but $100 is more than I can sell it for.

Reply CeCoQ 14 hours ago

There is something people are missing. If you get your Z10 from ATT, you can't get a Q10 for 149$. Because you qualify for the 249$ only if you are eligible for a contract renewal. So if you had gotten the Z10 from ATT, that would have already started a new contract and ATT would not let you get any device at a discounted price for 2 years. You will have to wait at least 6 months to qualify for way they call early upgrade which is about 200$ more than the discounted price.
So the Q10, six month after your Z10 purchase, would cost you 449$. So it will be 349$ at that moment if they still have that offer (limited).

This offer is for ATT customers who qualify for a device upgrade, ie. they haven't gotten a new phone in the last two years. And then they will get the Q10 for 149$ plus giving a smartphone like iPhone 4s.

I think you can sell a 4s on ebay for 300$+ specially if it's unlocked, and you can walk to ATT buy the Q10 and not have any money coming out of your pocket, where if you follow this offer, then 150 comes from your pocket and it is your phone.

If you have an iPhone 5, forget it, because it has been out for less than a year, so you are still in the two years contract. Even the 4s, most likely you will still be in the 2 years contracts.

Maybe if you have a 3gs or any Android brick that is about two years old? Then you can try the offer, but again the 149$ comes from your pocket and ebay can give you about 250 on those old phones specially if you know how to unlocked them.

I just think when there is something good like this, there is always a catch. And now you know the catch.... hope this helps

Reply 00stryder 13 hours ago

+1 Always a catch with carriers. Verizon had a recycle program that recently ended and wanted to give me I think $12 for my 3 year old Storm 2. Better off just finding a friend/family member that needs a smartphone and give it to them.

Posted via CB10 & loving it!

Reply Mr.Willie 8 hours ago

They also say if your phone is worth more than a $100, you would get more than $100. $100 was the minimum.

Reply acadia1106 13 hours ago

Oh man so it looks like I'm going to get that Q10 to compliment my z10 also.

Posted via CB10

Reply blackberry008 13 hours ago

Oh man, I just came from Rogers store they had q10 behind the counter and the girl let me play with it. Shit its awesome. I have the Z10 already but want to get the Q10 badly.

Reply camera531 13 hours ago

Here in the US there's nothing behind the counter, and the rep just has a clueless look. I guess that's what happens when we have to wait another full month...

Reply ppeters914 13 hours ago

There's a disconnect here. They're saying "at least $100", however, AT&T's Trade-In site is offering only $55. Guess I need to stop by my AT&T store.

Reply NoLimitz80 11 hours ago

Deal starts May 1st. That is why.

Reply patmur2010 13 hours ago

Best buy USA gave me near $190 for my 9900 when I bought my z10, so shopping around is good. But my girlfriend has a inspire hd that is worth $31 at radio shack

Posted via CB10

Reply NoLimitz80 11 hours ago

Do not forget that AT&T is running $50 off $50 or more in accessories when purchasing the BB Z10.

Reply TheCLEANSER 9 hours ago

You'll get 200 plus dollars if you sell on graigs list or Kijiji - prolly way more if it's in good shape and comes with accessories - there's plenty of people out there that don't want contracts.

Reply Motorhead777 8 hours ago

Im still waiting till its 100 bucks and keeping my 9810. Sorry please try again att.

Reply Mr.Willie 8 hours ago

$100 is the MINIMUM. We will find out tomorrow what they are giving for the 9810. (What I currently have).
