Carroll not happy with offensive performance

After Sunday night’s 29-3 loss in Seattle, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh praised quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who threw three interceptions.

“He probably played the best, [was the] most productive person we had on offense,” Harbaugh said.  (Given that no one else did much of anything, Harbaugh probably was right, at least technically.)

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has opted to praise no one on the team’s offensive side of the ball.

“I’m kind of concerned overall on offense that we just aren’t as sharp as we need to be,” Carroll said Tuesday, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com.  “We addressed it [Monday] as far as details and doing things right.  We’re just not as clean as we want to be.

“There’s a lot of potential to be shown.  Our efficiency isn’t where we want it.  We had too many negative plays [Sunday]. I’m a little disappointed in that, because we thought we came out of camp a little better.”

The contrast is curious, to say the least.  Harbaugh, whose team got an ugly wake-up call on Sunday night, has opted for extreme optimism when it comes to a quarterback who now has a career record of 0-2 against the Seahawks.  Carroll, whose team has become unbeatable at home, chose to call out his offense publicly.
