Tablet usage statistics show the iPad is expanding its lead over competitors

By the looks of it, the iPad just can't be surpassed when it comes to web usage. Ad network Chitika has released its latest findings and notes that after a slight drop in the traffic generated by Apple's iPad family, it has now increased its lead over the competition.

According to Chitika's graphics, all iPads now account for 81.9% of all tablet web traffic, followed by the Kindle Fire with 7.1%, Samsung's Galaxy tablets with 4.3% and Google's Nexus tablets with 1.7%. The data has been collected by sampling tens of millions of U.S. and Canadian tablet ad impressions running through Chitika's own ad network during the period of March 15 to March 21.

When it comes to the other players on the field, Amazon has seen a 0.9% drop compared to its share in February, Google has improved by 0.1% and Samsung has also grown by 0.1%. As it seems, the road to dethroning the iPad as the go-to tablet will be long and painful for these guys.
