Kids have a lot of energy. A lot! No joke. If the world is really looking for alternative sources of energy, why don't we harness the power of kids, bottle it up and sell it? Long battery life! A fuel source for cars! Better than solar energy! But we probably shouldn't do it like the Matrix, since that is horrible.
