Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) April 12, 2013 -- Hollywood, CA- Many of you may have seen Mike Newell's 1991 hit movie 'Enchanted April', based on the play of the same name by Elizabeth Von Armin, starring Alfred Molina, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent and Joan Plowright. However, I am sure most of you would agree that the character of Lady Caroline, played by Polly Walker, steals the show. So, when I saw a recent production of Enchanted April at the Charlie Chaplin Theatre in Hollywood, all of my high expectations were on this version of Lady Caroline, with an even higher expectation because this time she was played by British sensation Charlotte Rothwell, and I was not disappointed. Charlotte played Lady Caroline with a British bucketful of elegance, grace and refinement, but she didn't just play the high-class stereotype of the 1920s. She created a 3-dimensional character who used her wealth and class to mask her loneliness and grief, entrancing the audience with every step that she took. I found myself waiting for her entrance with bated breath, just to see what she did next. Charlotte also won Best Dressed of the night, in full 1920s attire designed just for her.
The play was directed by British actor Ian Ogilvy, who was the star of popular television show The Saint and Return of The Saint. He was also in I, Claudius and played alongside Meryl Streep in Death Becomes Her. He has acted alongside acting royalty, such as Christopher Plummer, Bruce Willis and Orson Welles. According to the Daily Mail, Ian was "the undisputed star of 1970s TV as the dashing Simon Templar in "Return Of The Saint", a role that he resumed from Sir Roger Moore. As an iconic British personality, he was the perfect director for this play, and brought it to life beautifully.
The play also starred British talent Clare Bell as Lottie, Aussie rising star Nell Nakkan as Mrs Graves and Vegas native Saffron Mazzia as Rose. Charlotte Rothwell is no stranger to the stage- she has been performing in theatre productions since a young child as Ophelia in Hamlet, Regan in King Lear and Clare in Rumors, to name but a few.
