FDA clears UCB's Cimzia for psoriatic arthritis treatment

BRUSSELS | Mon Sep 30, 2013 1:16am EDT

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - U.S. regulators have cleared UCB's Cimzia for the treatments of adult patients with active psoriatic arthritis, the Belgian group said on Monday.

Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory disease that affects joints and tendons, and usually occurs in combination with psoriasis.

In the United States, Cimzia is already approved for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and for reducing the signs and symptoms of Crohn's disease, UCB said.

Mercedes S-Class Coupe spied with AMG treatment

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe AMG

Mercedes-Benz is already hard at work on development of the S-Class Coupe, the car that will replace the CL-Class and that was previewed as a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And the car in this latest set of spy shots – which our spy photographer claims is an AMG variant based on its aggressive front fascia, quad exhausts and huge brakes – looks rather far along in the development process.

According to our German informants, this particular prototype has the singing voice of an AMG, and is described as sounding "great." Making that noise should be AMG's 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V8, despite claims of it being near death. While it produces 577 horsepower in the S63 AMG, our spies seem to think it'll get a small bump to 585 horsepower, which contradicts previous reports. Performance should be AMG-worthy, with an expected sprint to 62 miles per hour taking around four seconds.

Take a look up top for the full batch of spy photos.

Report: Nissan Qashqai getting Juke-R treatment

Nissan Qashqai

As long as there are sacred cows, there will be heretics sharpening their knives in anticipation of the butchering. When Nissan first carved into the mighty GT-R to create the Juke-R, onlookers quickly fell into two camps: those who thought the plan was sheer genius and those who believed cannibalizing a GT-R to feed a Juke was a new brand of obscenity. We fell firmly in the former camp. Now Severn Valley Motorsport is looking to take that theme one step further by shoving the go-faster bits from a GT-R into a Nissan Qashqai. That noise you hear? It's us cackling like mad men.

While we can't say for certain, we're guessing the project should yield the world's fastest Qashqai thanks in no small part to the twin-turbocharged VR38DETT V6 engine from the GT-R. Throw in the all-wheel-drive system and the little CUV should change demeanor dramatically. We can't wait to see this thing in action.
