Dancing With The Stars: Ladies Lead In Week 2

Caption Val Chmerkovskiy and Zendaya, Season 16, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- She’s the youngest competitor ever on “Dancing with the Stars,” but Disney star Zendaya is already ahead of the class.

The 16-year-old actress, from Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up,” topped the leaderboard with partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy for the second week in a row.

The pair churned out a fast-moving jive for the judges and audience — and they made a big impression with the number.

“Zendaya, you are the whole shebang. You killed that,” an impressed Carrie Ann Inaba raved. “Great job.”

Even Len Goodman, notoriously tough on dances like the jive (which he’s often criticized for crossing into the territory of other dances), sang the young woman’s praises.

“For someone, tonight, it’s gonna be the last chance to dance… but not you,” he said.

Zendaya and Val captured 26 points, which, when added to their Week 1 total, took them to a whopping 50 out of 60, the kind of score “Dancing” fans usually see much, much later in the competition.

The next two spots on the leaderboard were also earned by ladies in the competition.

Former “American Idol” contender-turned-country star Kellie Pickler wowed with a thrilling, futuristic jazz number with a shirtless Derek Hough (which no doubt reminded longtime “DWTS” watchers of his dance with Joanna Krupa in Season 9). It was good enough for 26 points from the judges, for an overall two week total of 47 out of 60.

“Last week was the spark, this week is a fire, well done,” Len told Kellie.

Third place went to Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman and partner Mark Ballas, who earned 24 points for the night (45 points over the two weeks) for a fun quickstep.

“It was like watching a magic little bluebird in full flight… grace, elegance and personality,” judge Bruno Tonioli said.

On Tuesday’s show, one contender and their professional partner will be eliminated.

The leaderboard, including Monday’s score, and the pairs’ two week total is as follows:
